Alice McKee is an Offie-losing writer and BAFTA-losing documentary-maker.
They make radio for the BBC and write stuff for everyone else.
Here’s some of their work:
Perverts
“Brilliantly funny” - Rosie Jones
“Blisteringly good” - Glyn Maxwell
“Unmissable” - The Independent
There’s nothing less sexy than the cloakroom queue at a sex party. Perverts is a monologue about queer desire, queer shame and a terrible night out.
Alice’s second play debuted at Queer Fringe Festival in 2022, followed by a run at Vault Festival in 2023. The production made its Off West End debut at King’s Head Theatre with a sold out headline run.
Perverts was nominated for Best New Play at the Off West End Theatre Awards.
Selected as one of Channel 4’s New Writers, Alice is currently developing Perverts for the screen, mentored by Sid Gentle Films (Killing Eve) and Jodie Caron (The Crown).
Moderation
A social media moderator is forced to view thousands of graphic images every day. At a toddler’s birthday party, she finds herself plagued by intrusive thoughts.
A short audio play produced by Bitter Pill Theatre, Moderation stars Freya Mavor and was directed by Max Elton.
Moderation is now being reworked as a full length play and received development funding from Bristol Old Vic through the Ferment scheme.
